Missionary Baptist Churches actually start out as missions to a particular area that has been sponsored by a church of like faith and order from some other location.  Our church started out that same way when Brother L. D. Perdue came to the Santa Rosa area from the First Missionary Baptist Church in Antioch, CA.  In our faith, the mission has to be sponsored by an existing church and a missionary sent out to first, establish the faith (the mission) in the area and after there has been a sufficient following of true believers, the church is organized.

1968 – Original church building

To the left is the original building when the church was organized in 1968.

As of this entry (February 2015) we have one member, Sister Claire, of the original charter group at the church.

The building was enlarged to handle the influx of new members and if you look at the map on the home page, you will see that what was once a lonely Church out in the middle of nowhere, there is now a thriving community surrounding the church.

God knew in advance that Adam and Eve would violate His very first commandment.  He had given them free will because He wanted them to desire the relationship they had with Him.

(Genesis 2:16,17) “And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shall surely die.”

Of course, Adam and Eve did not physically die when they ate of the tree, but they died a spiritual death.  All of a sudden they put distance between them and God and had broken the relationship they had with Him.

(Genesis 3: 6-10) “And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.  And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons.  And they heard the voice of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God amongst the trees of the garden. “

“And the Lord God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where art thou?  And he said, I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself.”

This broke the relationship they had with God.  From that point on, God has tried to rebuild the relationship with man.  Every human being has been born with free will and God has provided to every being the opportunity to seek Him and re-establish the relationship he wants with everyone.

All He asks is that we believe in Jesus, that He came to earth to die for our sins, was buried and rose on the third day to join His Father in Heaven.
